Return of Grinder 3

The ex Sydney, then Melbourne Reciprocating Rail Grinder No 3 has returned from a stint on loan to MOTAT in New Zealand. While at MOTAT, they repainted the tram, fixed it mechanically so that it’s fully operable and added safety cages that to make it operable in our modern safety-conscious era.

It arrived, after some quarantine delays, on Friday the 1st of December. It was unloaded by crane and towed to the workshop.

On Saturday the 2nd, before the 2017 Members Day event, the trolley base and pole was refitted and the lights all replaced. No 3 then featured alongside newly restored 24s.
