Please note: The line to Royal National Park is still unavailable whilst we await parts for repairs. Trams ARE only operating between the museum and the Sutherland end of the line. Trams are NOT operating to the Royal National Park until repairs are made. The museum display hall and rides to Sutherland continue to operate on SUNDAYS only due to COVID.
Families or groups of friends have no need to book, but large groups of visitors should.
All Victoria Day and launch of restored Ballarat tram 37
Sunday 18th of September 2016
The storms in Sydney on the original date of the 4th of June forced the postponement of this event. A date has now been chosen and it’s hoped that the weather conditions will be favourable this time. The long-term forecasts look good.
After a long restoration journey, Ballarat 37 will be relaunched on Sunday, 18th of September at the Sydney Tramway Museum. To celebrate this milestone, all our operating Victoria trams will be running – including Bendigo 11, Melbourne W2 249, Melbourne Y1 611 and Melbourne Z2 111. Come along and enjoy the festivities as this historic tram re-enters service.
* Trams – initially Bendigo 11, Melbourne W2 249, Y1 611 and Z2 111 operating in traffic.
* Ballarat 37 launched late morning with ribbon cutting ceremony.
* Ballarat 37 to join operating fleet after a ceremony.
* Melbourne Grip Car 322 on static display in Cross St.
While the above trams are hoped to be running and work is in progress to ensure they are ready for the day, unforeseen issues may result in changes to the program.
