This popular event marking the winter solstice was held on Saturday 21st June. Tram services were provided by Sydney R1 1979, Adelaide H 358, and Brisbane Phoenix 548. Variotram 2107 was also out on display at the depot yard entrance with a varied interior light show held at certain times.
Other attractions included the floodlit YMCA building façade, and the immaculately restored Loftus Junction Signal Box and Sutherland Substation at North Terminus; both buildings illuminated inside and out. The substation was open for inspection until 6pm, where a section of the HO model tramway was made available for operation.
We were also joined on the evening by Cale Seamer of Railway Coins, who held his sales stand in Lakewood Park, the MV Cape Don Society, and the Sydney Bus Museum who brought their members to the event on their 1948 Albion Venturer double-decker CX19W 2023, which remained on display in Tramway Ave. Custom Coaches-built MAN CB30 (2002) from Kingsford-Smith Transport of Banksmeadow also provided regular services between Loftus and the Car Hole Café in Sutherland.
The museum thanks all participating organisations, its hard-working and dedicated volunteers, and its patrons for contributing to this memorable and enjoyable evening.
