The Sutherland Extension

For many years the Sydney Tramway Museum has aspired to run into Sutherland, all the way to the old Cronulla-Sutherland steam tram station building alongside Sutherland railway station.

The following are a series of pictures, that member Joseph Spinella created to ‘assist’ with visualising what a possible extension into Sutherland would look like today. The images are too good to just bury in another submission to council.
Some of the base material (recent shots of Old Princes Hwy, Sutherland) were contributed by Martin Pinches, and then Joe worked his magic on the photograph.

Note these images do not represent an actual plan, but just what trams MAY look like should this dream ever happen.

  1. As a young boy in the early 1950s I had my tonsils and adenoids removed by a local doctor in a small building against the Sutherland Railway Station fence The building I always took to be the old tram office.
