Pre-Conference Gold Coast Mini Tour
In response to several requests, a “mini” tour has been arranged to enable participants to experience Australasia’s newest tramway venture at the Gold Coast before proceeding to Sydney for the Conference.
To keep costs down, all of our transport will be done on public transport using GoCard electronic ticketing, and all meals have been left to own arrangements. (Participants holding an Australian Seniors Card pay less for their GoCard fares)
Mini Tour Outline
Price: (Accommodation per person Twin Share ) $AUD240 or $AUD215 with Seniors Card. Single supplement: Add $185. Additional nights available in Brisbane beforehand – $129 per room per night.
Monday 6th October (Labour Day Public Holiday)
Arrive in Brisbane – various times as per your choice of airline. We suggest using the Airtrain to travel to the city as our accommodation – Rendezvous Anzac Square- is located opposite Central Station. Discounted price ($15) Airtrain tickets can be provided.
After lunch, catch train to Ferny Grove to visit Brisbane Tramway Museum for some real tram experience before being exposed to the ultra modern Gold Coast Light Rail. After the Museum visit, return train to City. Some may wish to have dinner at Ferny Grove Tavern before travelling to the City.
Tuesday 7th October
Checkout from hotel, but leave luggage in cloakroom.
Catch 8.58am train & bus from Central to the Ipswich Rail Workshops Museum.
Lunch is available at the Museum.
When we have spent enough time here, catch the return bus/train to Central, then collect luggage from Rendezvous Hotel and catch train to Gold Coast (Nerang Station) and connecting bus to Broadbeach Interchange.
Our Hotel – Broadbeach Travel Inn Apartments – is approx 100m walk away. Dinner at own arrangement.
Wednesday 8th October
All day free on the Gold Coast to ride trams and/or visit tourist attractions.
Overnight again at Broadbeach Travel Inn Apartments.
Thursday 9th October
Own arrangements to travel to Sydney.
Numerous airlines fly from Coolangatta to Sydney Bus route 777 Broadbeach to Coolangatta Airport operates every 15mins all day.
See you in Sydney that evening for the Official Conference Welcome !!
2014 COTMA Conference Post Conference Tour
Wednesday 15th October to Saturday 18th October 2014
The 2014 COTMA Conference Post Conference Tour will be of four days duration and will provide opportunities for quite a bit of rail travel, a good look around Australia’s national Capital, Canberra and also visits to rail museums in the rural countryside of New South Wales
