Ballast motor 42s, the mainstay of the works fleet, developed a motor fault late 2017. The motor was ‘cut out’ and the car continued in light works service as a 2 motor car while the workshop refurbished another motor of the same type that had been in storage.
On the 13th of January 2018, 42s entered the workshop and was lifted off its bogies so that the faulty motor could be swapped for the refurbished one.
Over the next few weeks, the faulty motor will be swapped for the refurbished one.
By the start of February 2018, 42s was out of the workshop and back in service and Nagasaki 1054 had taken its place.
